Reuters Blogger Felix Salmon Selected as Winner of ASA 2010 Excellence in Statistical Reporting Award
Felix Salmon, a well known financial blogger who writes extensively about statistics, has been named the recipient of the 2010 Excellence in Statistical Reporting Award (ESRA) of the American Statistical Association (ASA). Salmon does quantitative, statistically minded reporting on topics ranging from the costs of counterfeiting to bank fraud to Nigerian spammers.

The American Statistical Association (ASA) is seeking nominations for its annual Excellence in Statistical Reporting Award (ESRA). Nominations for the 2010 award are due by March 15th. The winner will be announced in July 2010, and the award will be presented in August at the Joint Statistical Meetings in Vancouver, BC. Newsweek Science Columnist Sharon Begley Selected as Winner of ASA Excellence in Statistical Reporting Award
Sharon Begley, Newsweek science columnist, has been named the recipient of the 2009 Excellence in Statistical Reporting Award (ESRA) from the American Statistical Association (ASA). The award was announced today by ASA and will be presented to Begley at the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) in Washington DC August 4th. Begley also will be one of four panelists at a JSM session discussing how statisticians can best respond to media questions and how they can help the media understand how statisticians need the questions framed.
